[emergencynw] Call for performers - Acoute

Acoute Call for Performers

Frakture is looking for musicians, performance artists, dancers and actors for its Acoute concert series, at the Bluecoat, Liverpool. The next event focuses on the Fluxus movement of the 1960s, with pieces by Yoko Ono, La Monte Young and George Maciunas, among others. The performance will be 7.30pm - 9.30pm on Wednesday 20th March.

Influenced by Dada, many of the Fluxus pieces are more dramatic or conceptual than strictly musical, so, as well as musicians, we are also seeking performance artists, dancers and actors. The concert is open to performers from a wide range of abilities, and musicians need not be able to read music notation. Acoute is an acoustic event, so musicians should bring an acoustic instrument (or voice).

There will be three rehearsals for the event, to be held at the Bluecoat on the evenings of Thursday 14th, Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th March.

To register to play, please email simon@frakture.org, stating your name, contact details, and what instrument you intend to play, if you are a musician, or what your primary practice is, if dancer, actor, etc.

Deadline: 5pm Monday 11th March__,_._,___

BBC Performing Arts Fund: 2013 - Our Year of Theatre

Our Year of Theatre

Tuesday 15 January 2013, 16:56

2013 is well and truly here, and, as promised, we're all about Theatre here at the BBC Performing Arts Fund. We're currently working on refining our ideas and talking to industry professionals from the theatre performance world around the UK to make sure we're giving you the best and most relevant schemes to apply for.

We can't give away too much right now but here are a few things we can tell you:

- We WILL have a community theatre scheme [see http://www.bbc.co.uk/performingartsfund/grants/community-dancefor how this might run]

- We WILL have a fellowship scheme [see http://www.bbc.co.uk/performingartsfund/grants/music-fellowships for what this might look like]

- We WON'T be funding student tuition fees (but you might want to read this http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/performingartsfund/2012/06/education-practicalitie... & maybe have a look at http://www.ideastap.com/Opportunities/Brief/49d588cd-9d5b-42cc-b77c-a13f00977... over at IdeasTap if that is what you are after).

- We WILL be giving £450,000 in funding to theatre this year

- We ARE very excited!

You can still come to us for gems related to music, dance and the performing arts in general - but anyone who has been waiting patiently for a theatre grant to sink your teeth into will soon be rewarded.

"Theatre" means many different things to many different people so we'll need a bit of consultation from you along the way to help us break it down and analyse it from every angle. We'll be asking you questions from time to time on www.ideastap.com/Opportunities/Brief/49d588cd-9d5b-42cc-b77c-a13f00977b4f#Ove... so make sure you are following us if you want to give us your thoughts.

Right, that's enough from us for now. We'll be back soon with an update, in the meantime - go forth and perform!

[emergencynw] Pitch: Rural Touring Networks

Hi All,

I thought I would draw you your attention to a scheme being run by PANDA to support artists tour their work on rural touring networks. The scheme is supported by Sue Robinson (co-director of National Rural Touring Forum and manager of Spot On Lancashire) and Claire Smith (director of the National Rural Touring Forum & scheme manager for Cheshire Rural Touring Arts). The scheme intends to support and mentor artists making work for rural touring circuits.

'This scheme offers a valuable entry-point for any company wishing to establish themselves on the rural touring network. Through the pitching process, the selected mentee companies/artists will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and their work to a panel of managers and promoters. They will gain a better understanding of the issues and contexts in which rural touring operates and a bespoke mentoring session based on their presented work and ideas.'

The application deadline for any one wishing to pitch is the 5th February and applications can be found here http://www.panda-arts.org.uk/training-events/events/pitch--deadline-for-applications/

Please circulate to any one whom you think this might be of interest to and apologies for any cross postings.

Best

Out Now Festival - call

Out Now! Festival 2013 - call for applicants
The Bremen-based centre for performing arts, Schwankhalle, and Theater Bremen invite young theatre, music and dance productions, performances and Live Art projects to the next OUTNOW! Festival, taking place from 30 May to 8 June, 2013. The festival first started in 1994 under the name “Sprungbrett” (“stepping stone”). Since 2004, OUTNOW! has annually presented a representative selection of international young artists at Schwankhalle.

For the 2013 edition of the festival, Schwankhalle and Theater Bremen have launched a co-operation – with both performance venues presenting the OUTNOW! Festival productions.

OUTNOW! offers a platform for exchange of artistic experience and different artistic approaches , for presenting works to a wider audience and gives the possibility to build up an international network between young artists. Workshops, audience talks, discussions, the reviews of the OUTNOW!_feedbackers, open-air cinema, concerts with newcomer-bands and parties complement the festival.

Artists working in film, literature, fine arts, design, digital media, architecture etc. are also invited to present their works at the festival, as long as they relate to the performing arts.

Being a student is not necessarily a prerequisite for participation at OUTNOW! –autodidact artists and Young Professionals are also welcome!

Travel costs will be paid for the selected participants.

Deadline for applications: 15 February.

[emergencynw] Call for performances... Junction Goole

Please find below a call for short pieces from companies / performers who are under 25 years old. The call-out is from Junction in East Yorkshire, but I'll be hosting the event on the night, and will also be involved in selecting the acts. I've heard from the venue that they haven't received many proposals yet, with just a couple of days to go. It's unpaid but is a great opportunity to try out short performances or works-in-progress, and also a chance to get your work seen by Drunken Chorus if any of you are thinking of applying for future DRUNKEN NIGHTS events (more details on that project here: www.drunkennightsblog.wordpress.com).

If anyone has any questions about it please feel free to give me a shout. Applications can be sent to Nicola Dixon at Junction - nicola.gtc@btconnect.com.

Hope to see a few applications from familiar names!

Cheers.

Chris

'Poolside Emergency 2013 calling for proposals

Dear all

'Poolside Emergency 2013

...mayhem on Merseyside is back for the third time, with a day-long splash of live art and performance at the Bluecoat on Saturday 13 April, 12noon-5pm

Artists working in live art, performance art, experimental theatre, contemporary dance, installation, sound art and interdisciplinary arts are now invited to submit proposals of new work and works in progress for inclusion in this event.

Work can be in any relevant art-form/medium though some live presence is desirable. There are a variety of spaces available including public indoor and outdoor areas, daylight work spaces, low-tech studios and a small performance space. Applications are encouraged for work that is durational, one-to-one, intervention based or site-sensitive.

The aim of the event is to showcase a large number of artists and companies. All work proposed should be technically simple and able to accommodate short get in/get out periods.  Performances with a static audience (i.e. non-durational) should be no more than 20minutes in length. For full details and to apply go to: poolside.posterous.com

'Poolside Emergency takes place on Saturday 13 April, 12noon-5pm at the Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool L1 3BX Liverpool

Deadline for proposals: 5.00pm Friday 15 February 2013

There will be a production meeting for selected artists on: Saturday 23 May.

'Poolside Emergency cannot offer fees or expenses.

      Happy New Year

      Hi all

Happy 2013 - how on earth did we get here already?

Expect a flurry of emails from us in the next couple of weeks as we're hitting the ground running as it were...

      A few things to expect:
A new version of the hÅb website.  It's actually there at www.habarts.org - just having a few different redirect/browser issues - if you want to give us a hand you could check it out and let us know any problems (tell us what browser you are using - I know of some problems in Safari - News & Opportunities is only opening if you open a new tab!) If anyone's good at server/redirect geeky stuff then help would also be welcome!

The idea is that hÅb and habarts.org is the artist (and industry) activity - so useful info about our own development projects and other opportunities will appear here as well as an archive of past stuff.  If you keep feeding us information then hopefully we can make it a genuinely useful resource!
      New things include:
      - a blog we will post opportunities to including a lot of what goes out on this list - (send things you want including to info@habarts.org)
      - details of how to join this group - whilst we will moderate who joins, we are going to open it up a bit, so do encourage other artists you know to get in touch
      - a google calendar for planning platform and other opportunities (send things you want including to info@habarts.org)

'Poolside Emergency (13 April) You've already had a reminder for the Turn call-out (turnmcr.org) - but expect a call-out for 'Poolside Emergency (http://poolside.posterous.com) very soon (hopefully next week)

We are thinking of organising and Emergency group sharing/social for late Feb or late March, either at The Yard or somewhere in Z-arts.If anyone is working on something (no or low-tech) they'd like to try out please let us knowb - ditto if there's anything you'd like to get together and chat about...

The new Word of Warning season online - Spring/Summer is a bit mega with lots of co-promotions, so it will appear in two 'waves' - Jan-April coming to you very soon indeed...  As a heads-up, it all kicks off on 31 January at the The Lowry Studio with Lowri Evans's new piece and carries on 9 Jan at Z-arts with Haphazard (any remaining ideas for work please mail me asap).

Looking forward to seeing you all very soon.

      Best

      Tamsin
