HATCH - Call for Submissions: NEAT14

HATCH - Call for Submissions: NEAT14

£300 per selected performance.

Nottingham city centre,
dates within 23rd May-1st June 2014

As part of the Nottingham European Arts and Theatre Festival 2014 - NEAT14 - Hatch will present a series of experimental and site-specific performance works around Nottingham city centre - connecting with the city in surprising ways.

We are looking for performances that take place in a range of small venues or in situations that could be happened upon unexpectedly. The performances might take a stroll through the city, or happen in a particular shop, a small screen cinema or a bar. They might be audio tours linking specific locations or instructions for a game. It can be something which happens only once, something which repeats several times in a day or even over a number of days. We welcome submissions for outdoor public events, one to one performances, durational work, live art, performance or audio work that can be explored by the audience in their own time. If you want to come up with a performance treasure hunt through the city- great!

The overarching theme of the NEAT14 festival is the anniversary of the First World War and its echoes throughout the following 100 years of European history. We're not looking for work specifically about that war or that period of time, but we are interested in performances which intersect with similar ideas in oblique and interesting ways.

Hatch is a theatre without a building programming peripatetic live art and performance events in unusual locations. We are interested in emerging as well as established artists, exploring the boundaries of what live art, theatre, movement and performance can be. We like work that is not contained by the fourth wall and unafraid to take risks.

Get in touch with your ideas and we will be happy to discuss and send you an application form. Please make sure to specify what kind of environment your performance would sit best in and what your preferred performance dates and times would be.

Check out the Hatch blog by Wayne Burrows if you want to get an idea of our previous events.

Deadline for submission is midnight on Friday 2 May 2014. If you are interested in applying pop us an e-mail to hatch@hatchnottingham.org.uk and we will send you an application form. We will reply to all applicants in the week following the deadline.

Looking forward to hearing from you -
