Northern Stage at Edinburgh

Northern Stage – Edinburgh 2015 info

Summer 2014 saw us embark on our most ambitious Edinburgh venture to date.  We moved across town to our new venue, King's Hall, and in addition to supporting more artists than ever before from the North of England, we also broadened our programme to include artists from elsewhere in the UK.   The ethos remained the same though; we want to create the conditions for artists to take their work to Edinburgh without unsustainable financial risk.  2015 will see us continue to build on our success.

BACKGROUND

The motivation behind our Edinburgh venue is the desire to create the conditions for artists to take their work to Edinburgh without unsustainable financial risk. The offer we make reflects this and though we take a first call on the box office this is purely to cover cost, we ask for no venue fee and crucially there are no re-charges. For the previous 3 years we have been in receipt of additional funding towards the Edinburgh project, this funding however came to an end in 2014 so we are now running the project through our core funding. This change has meant that we have had to alter slightly the offer we give out to artists but central to that offer continues to be sharing the financial risk.

EDINBURGH 2015 OFFER

·         Tech support – inc. a team to op/run your show, dedicated tech time, and generous get-in/get-out time

·         Marketing support – leading up to and during the festival. We also take a small team of volunteers with us who, amongst other duties, act as our street team

·         Press support – we engage an agency to make sure we get the best press coverage possible

·         Print run – inc. a run of posters and flyers

·         No venue fee/recharges

Unlike in previous years, there is no accommodation as part of the 2015 offer. To help balance out this change we will be lowering the first call on box office receipts so that you can start making money sooner.
